My big project for this week has been the flower beds in front of our house. They were at one time landscaped and although there are still quite a few bushes, there are also lots of bare spaces that the weeds gladly took possession of.
Yesterday I finished weeding and transplanted some hostas from behind the garage. Last night the boys and I went flower shopping. I let them each pick a color of snap dragons and planned the color theme around them - white, yellow, and purple. I bought a variety of flowers, being able to mix and match to fill a flat. I was so anxious to get them in (and anxious to avoid more sunburn on my back) that I planted them all until it was dark.
This morning I put mulch around all the plants in the attempt to not only make it look nicer, but also to avoid some weeds. As I was spreading the mulch, which I had explained to the boys last night were wood chips, Peyton asked, "Can I help with the potato chips?"
