36 Weeks, 2 Days

Had my next dr. appointment today. They were running very behind schedule, but I had a book I had been reading so the time passed pretty quickly for me. The doctor told me herself and two other drs. had delivered seven babies today. She delivered four of them, which explained why she was so behind! I bet they see some rather late nights.

The scale went up two more pounds! I'm blaming it on bedrest this week since I already blamed it on sweets last week. I think part of it might have been that my appointment was later in the afternoon, but who knows. It sounds good anyway.

I'm measuring at 37 weeks, which is actually what I was measuring at last week. I am glad it didn't go up because I was starting to think I was growing a big baby in there!

I got my GBS test done - not fun, but I'm glad it's over. No idea when the results will be back. I tested negative with both of the boys so I'm assuming I'll be negative this time as well, but I know that is not always the case.

I am still at 3 cm, which is good. I am 75% effaced. The dr. said she doesn't think I'll make it to my due date (which I don't expect either), but I also know that doesn't mean I'll give birth tomorrow. I walked around at 5 cm with Gavin for a couple weeks. I'm hoping I don't go into labor next week because my dad just made plans yesterday for he and my mom to go out of state all next week. There go our babysitters! So now we're trying to figure out who we could call to watch the boys (we don't know many people that well yet) and we need to pack food for Gavin and a bag for both of them just in case.

Only four more days of bed rest after today! Yippeeeeeeee!

Yay! You're doing great, Dellie! I'll pray with you about the final timing of the birth & that you'll figure out who to watch the boys if needed. I wish I was close enough to help. If the answer is not too graphic, what is a GBS test? ;-) Have a great weekend!

GBS stands for Group B Strep. It's a bacteria that can be present in anyone, but isn't always. It doesn't bother us, but it can cause problems for the baby when they are born (if born vaginally). If a pregnant mother has it, she has to be on antibiotics when she gives birth.
