36 Weeks

We have made it to the month of April! I know this may sound odd, but I really wanted this baby to have his own birthday month since Gavin and I already share March. Four birthdays in a two month time span will be busy enough as it is!

Another good point about making it to 36 weeks is that I can now deliver at the local hospital. I was really hoping for this as I didn't want to be an hour or more away from home. I also didn't want to have a complete stranger deliver the baby - as happened with Peyton. Though once it's time for the baby to be born, it hardly seems to matter who does the catching as long as they do it!

I added a few more things to the hospital suitcase and have been encouraging my husband to get his change of clothes, etc. put in there too. I know we're going to be in enough of a hurry getting out the door and driving the 25-30 min. to the hospital without having lots of extra things to add in.

There are still a couple things I'm anxious to get done. One is getting the bouncy seat, swing, Pack 'n Play, and car seat washed. Some of those items also need batteries. The baby bin is still MIA and there are a couple things in it that I need for the hospital. I'd also like to find the Boppy pillow which is in a box somewhere.

Only one more week of bed rest! I'm not looking forward to the catch-up I'll have to do when that time comes, but I am anxious to be out and about again. Jason has been a big help with the boys and around the house. I actually feel badly for him because he's working, preparing to speak at AWANA Wednesday night, taking care of the boys, working on his missions presentation, helping to create a web site for our church, doing laundry, and chipping in around the house. His plate is definitely full.

I am feeling pretty good overall, though I would say the intensity of some of the contractions has stepped up a little bit, particularly at night. I use them as my opportunity to practice relaxation techniques. I am hoping to birth naturally this time, though at times when I get a strong contraction I struggle with the thought of dealing with them for hours. I felt Peyton's birth went better overall and my pushing time was only minutes compared to 2 - 2 1/2 hours the first time. We'll see what happens when I'm in the middle of it. I'm almost hoping things just progress too quickly again and I don't even get the choice!

Happy April!

Praise God for helping you make it this far!

I hope you are able to make it through this birth naturally as you are wishing -- you've done it once, so I know you can do it again! And, I'm sure your hubby will be a wonderful encouragement and help to you as he has been throughout this pregnancy -- but... However this baby comes into this world, he will be loved, he will be part of a wonderful family, and he will be raised in a Christian home. What more could he need? :) Can't wait to hear how things progress and see pictures of the newest addition!

*hugs*

Dellie, congrats on 36 weeks! Hang in there, chica. I'm so glad you'll be able to deliver at the closer hospital, too. I'll be praying that you'll be strong & that you'll be relaxed & that things go quickly. I think I would want to try it w/o an epidural, too. Those things FREAK me OUT! When my sister had Caleb I saw the video of how they do it - BIG MISTAKE! I'm just much better off not knowing the details, you know? Anyway, I'm so excited for you & I'll be waiting for your news! Love ya!
