Green Thumb Update

I'm not actually stating I have an excellent green thumb - this was just all I could think of for a garden update!

I decided to give the boys some time to play outside since the temperatures are more mild again. While they played, I decided to do some picking/weeding in the garden. I was happy to get a little more broccoli, though most of it is rather bitter due to flowering so fast. I got enough pea pods off for us each to have a few (very literally) raw peas for lunch. The tomato plants are doing great! There are already flowers and even some beginning tomatoes on them. The pepper plants are each beginning to grow a pepper, but I think a lack of light may be slowing down their progress. The lettuce was over-abundant. I was able to get enough to fill a gallon size Ziploc bag. I had to "weed" some out as two types were quite bitter. I'm not sure if that's the true taste or if the heat got to it. The piggies will enjoy it just the same. We have a myriad of flowers on the cucumber plant with one cucumber beginning to grow. Thankfully it's up on the fence so hopefully no little creatures will get to it before we do! The zucchini plant has several flowers as well, with one zucchini making good head-way. I'm not quite ready to pick it, but I think by next week it will be ripe for the picking. They are actually supposed to be the best when they are still somewhat small and narrow.

I weeded once again, hoping it lasts for a while. It seems the dandelion plants are doing great in the garden. Thankfully I'm getting to them before they start producing flowers, but they are still a nuisance. I'm actually getting more weeds than normal this year and I think it is because I added Miracle Grow soil before I planted. Not only do the vegetables like it, the weeds do too!

I'm planning to enjoy a nice salad this evening for lupper. That's the stay-at-home term for, "I didn't get to eat lunch at a reasonable hour, but I can't make it until supper!" Without binging on chocolate, anyway!
