The "Big" Day!

We are all hoping and praying (for the past three plus years!) that the news we receive tomorrow will be good. We head once again to the allergist, this time for a milk challenge. I am excited to get to pack a variety of dairy products, hoping Gavin actually likes them when it's time to eat them! I would like to take along ice cream, but since it takes over an hour to get there, I don't think it would be ice cream any longer. It's too bad there's not a McDonald's close by where we could pick up a shake right before the appointment. I guess we'll have to save that trip for another day!

His appointment on Thursday went well. His oxygen level was at 98 with only half of his breathing treatment completed before we had to head out the door. The n.p. said we could stop using the nebulizer and keep the medicine to use as needed in the future. He took the last of his steroids on Saturday. I am thankful he is off of them because they really did seem to be making him more wired and hyper. Not difficult to imagine with a four year old! I took him off the Singulair so it wouldn't interfere with his challenge tomorrow. Dr. L--- may want him to continue to take them daily or he may suggest something different. I am interested in learning more about various options, preferrably non-steroidal.

Jason is coming along this time, hopefully to help join in on the celebration. I know I need to ask in faith, believing, but I have to admit I'm a little nervous. I'm afraid of being disappointed even though I know dealing with food allergies is certainly not the most trying thing a parent can face. It would be nice to have a longer list of safe foods. Also, if his body is able to outgrow one allergy it gives more hope for outgrowing another. So Lord willing, maybe he'll be able to enjoy all the finer points of a cow some day - meat and milk!

We would appreciate your prayers tomorrow!

My thoughts & prayers are so with you guys today! Like you said, food allergies are not the hardest thing for a parent to face, but it would be wonderful, encouraging, & exciting to see God answer this prayer for your family.
Let us know how it goes! Love ya!
