Planting Progress

My garden is finally in! Very late, but it's in! The only thing I still need are broccoli seedlings, which Jason is picking up on his way to church today.

Tuesday I spent the day weeding, raking, etc. Not fun, but I liked the end result. I also planted two tomato and two green pepper plants I had bought last week. I also planted flowers along the front border of the garden. I'm not completely sure why I do that every year, but it does make the garden look nice!

Wednesday morning Jason rotatilled the ground to get it all ready for me. This year we had to rent one since we didn't have our pastor's to borrow. It kind of eliminated the option of saving any money on the garden, but Jason wanted to do it for me so I didn't argue (well, not too much). I realized he was doing it for me to make my job easier, so I figured I probably shouldn't complain about the twenty bucks.

Thursday I added some dirt with Miracle Grow. I am really counting on that stuff to pull through for me. Some areas of our garden seem to be fertile, while others are rather hard and dry. I'm hoping what I added will help a little bit, even though it really wasn't all that much. I then planted one more tomato plant, cucumber and zucchini seedlings, then bean, lettuce, spinach, and pea seeds. Hopefully we'll have a LOT of lettuce and spinach, though it is a little late for getting them started. I tried planting those seeds in the shadier part of the garden so hopefully that will help protect them from the heat a little bit.

Hopefully this weekend I'll get the broccoli seedlings planted and we'll be on our way to fresh, garden greens!

We'll both have to post pictures of our gardens so we can see the progress. It's fun!
