Piggy Update

Although guinea pigs originally received their name due to making sounds similar to pigs, I think there is another meaning. They ARE little piggies. Munching, crunching, chewing their way through the day, they certainly enjoy eating. This can work to ones advantage though, especially if you have a nice treat to offer. This pair particularly loves green peppers and celery. We've also tried oranges, grape tomatoes, spinach, baby carrots, and grapes. I've been writing down which one likes which fruit/vegetable. Jason told me that is fine as long as I know all of his likes and dislikes!

They are still nameless, mainly due to the fact that Jason just got home from the pastor's conference in MI late last night. Hopefully we can come up with something today. Thus far, Gavin doesn't seem to have any suggestions. Peyton still slips up occasionally and calls them bunnies, so we may end up naming one of them Bunny. That may be a little confusing to a not yet two year old mind, though.

They definitely respond best when it's just me approaching the cage, but they will take food from Jason and the boys too. The boys' quick movements send them scurrying back to their homes every once in a while. Overall I think they are very personable. They don't run willy nilly every time I try to pick them up and once I have them snuggled in, they seem to settle in. I discovered the brown one likes to have his chin scratched and will even lift his little nose into the air to give me a better angle. It's so cute!

It seems our newest additions are settling in nicely in our home. I'll let you know when we've come up with their new names!

We need some pics of the piggies! Then maybe I could help with the naming. They've got to have cool names, don't you know :-)
