This Little Piggy...

went to the pet store, this little piggy felt forlorn.....

BUT today....both of these little piggies went wee-wee-wee-wee to their new home!

We have now adopted two more guinea pigs from the pet store. We didn't have to re-donate for them, for which I was thankful. The store manager who got us all messed up in the first place actually admitted he didn't know much about this pair, for which I was thankful. When I told him we already donated and didn't get our money back, so I was hoping we wouldn't have to donate again, he said, "Well, I don't know if you did or not...mumble, mumble." So I asked to talk to the other manager (must be more than one kind) who took them back from Jason. Thankfully she was there and there was no problem. I only had to donate for the cage - which came with everything they need! We already have a big cage and all the supplies of course, but we were planning to buy another house and water bottle, so by the time I added up those two items it was the same as just donating for the whole thing.

The manager told me their names are Marley and Damien, but somehow I think those aren't going to stick. I don't dare name them today since Jason is at a pastor's conference, but of course I already have a couple names in mind.

We got them home and I let the boys play outside while I cleaned the cage out. I put the piggies in the grass with the top of their cage on top of them and they went to town on the grass. I had read they particularly like fresh greens, including grass and dandelions, so maybe they can help Jason keep the yard mowed!

I think they will be really good piggies for us. Both of them have eaten from my hand already (taking grape tomatoes and Timothy hay) and both were sniffing my hand while I was putting the food and hay in the cage. That's a good sign. They learn your smell and if your smell also includes food, they get attached.

One is black with a brown stripe around his middle. He has long hair. He's the easier to catch and hold of the two. He's also a little bigger, but it could be because of his hair. The other is a lighter brown with a caramel colored tuft on his head. He has swirls all over, so he looks like he's had a perpetual bad hair day ever since he was born. It's actually quite cute.

Keep watch for piggy updates!

Adele -
You are such a brave woman to have those things in your house. My experience with guinea pigs is limited to pre-school (we had a couple in our classroom, along with some fish. But I hope things work out well and that the boys really enjoy them. My sister got her kids a beta fish recently & we've had some fun with him. Madi tried to feed him cottage cheese and we quickly learned that he did not like it! :-)
