Sunday was a much-needed encouraging day at church. With all the various things that have been going on, it has been hard at times to remain positive. I think God knew we needed a little boost and that was exactly what He gave us during the morning service.
First of all, the congregation really sang during the songs. Being in front on the keyboard, the church sounded so full. We had a great instrumental ensemble including the piano, a guitar, a flute, and a violin. It was the first time they had all played together and it was really encouraging. We also had a report from our missionary from Brazil. She is re-locating to a new area and ministry after raising more support.
We also had two families visit. One came as a result of their son hearing the first part of the missionary's story during AWANA and he wanted to hear the rest on Sunday. They do have a church, though we aren't sure what it is like doctrinally. We don't know if they will be back or not, but it was nice to have some more children take part in our Children's Church. Another family with two young children (one of whom shares Gavin's birthday/year) revisited. Apparently they came several years ago, but made friends who went to another church. That church recently closed its doors, so they are looking for a church again. They got some information about AWANA and stayed to talk to people, so we are hopeful they might start attending GLBC.
At the end of the service we had a man join our church. He got saved this past summer through the witness/testimony of a current member. In the fall, Jason discipled both of these men with a booklet published by ABWE. Mike shared his salvation testimony and I think it was a real blessing to everyone. It was a particular encouragement to us to see his growth and his willingness to take this step when we have so many who attend each Sunday without wanting to commit by becoming a member.
We are so thankful for the pick-me-up God sent our way. It makes it a little easier to keep pressing forward.

Amen, Adele. When I'm feeling a little overwrought (that's my new vocab. word - seems to describe me a lot lately) & I don't even know what I should be praying for, God often surprises me by showing clearly that He is in control & He's all about doing for our good. What a fabulous God we serve, huh? I love to hear of blessings showering down on you, dear friend.
