...of having two different credit card numbers stolen in four months? We got a call this afternoon from one of Jason's credit card companies. They said they had spotted possible fraudulent activity and wanted him to call back. I told him about it after church and he checked on-line. There wasn't anything that looked suspicious - several purchases at Walmart and one a week and a half ago at Chili's.
He called anyway and they told him his card had been used in Great Britain to attempt to make a $2,500 purchase in electronic equipment. Thankfully the credit card company flagged it and did not approve payment.
It was then something DID look suspicious on our account. The last location Jason had used the other credit card whose number was stolen (and used on an on-line gambling site) was at a nearby Chili's restaurant. The last location he used this card was at the same Chili's. That seems a little too coincidental, doesn't it?
He plans on calling Chili's and letting them know about this coincidence. Although the people who waited on us were different, it is possible there is someone in billing or something like that who is stealing numbers and either using them or selling them. I called one of the other couples who went with us and warned them about it since they also used a card. I found out they used their debit card, so they are going to monitor their bank account over the next few weeks.
We honestly have the weirdest things happen to us!
