There are many Scripture passages that refer to asking in faith, believing mountains can be moved, and asking according to God's will. Those are three things we've been trying to do nearly every night since we learned Gavin had life-threatening food allergies.
We pray with the boys before they go to bed and we faithfully ask for healing for Gavin's food allergies. Sometimes it is hard to have faith, partially because we know not every child grows out of their food allergies (and there's no real way to predict it either). We strive to believe this mountain can be moved, in spite of negative results time and time again. When we pray, we often say, "..if it is your will", because we know God is in control. He may have a reason for prolonging this in Gavin's life. Maybe this is a thorn in the flesh that, like Paul's in the New Testament, will never be removed.
This Monday, the 5th, we head back to the allergist for a check-up and skin testing. His last time to be tested was in May, so his immune system has had ten more months to mature/change. Hopefully it has made a difference. My main hopes are to test for fish and shellfish - two things he has not yet been tested for. We've been avoiding these two things as a precaution, but I am hoping to introduce them if we get the okay next week. Next, I'm hoping he will be cleared to eat red meat. That would open up a lot of possibilities for him, plus eliminate many contamination situations. My last hope, and the one that seems the hardest to hope for at times, is that he will be cleared to eat dairy products. He may never be able to drink a tall glass of milk or eat a bowl full of ice cream, but there are many products that have small amounts of dairy in them (or that risk contamination on shared equipment) that he could possibly start eating.
We ask that you pray along with us that God will do a miracle in his body; not just for our convenience, but for His glory. We also ask you to pray that if God does not see fit to remove the allergic response, that we will have the strength and grace to continue dealing with his allergies, one meal at a time.

Dell - I will be praying for Gavin & this situation. You & Jason have shown clearly the Lord's grace & strength so far; He is faithful, of that we can be sure! I wish we could be in the same room to pray together...wouldn't that be great? Love ya!
