Happy 4th Birthday, Buddy!

I can hardly believe our little boy is four years old today! Even though it is hard to remember pre-baby life, it still doesn't seem like it was that long ago that our two-some became a three-some. At 12:28 p.m., just in time for lunch, Gavin made his grand entrance into the world.

We had a car birthday party last night, using the theme from the movie. I've tried posting pictures twice, but it won't work. They'll have to come later I guess. My mom was able to be here since she is taking care of her previous pastor's father for the next week while they take a vacation. We also had Barker, and later for cake Big Barker. They are the couple from our church who watch the children for us when we go out and have sort of adopted them as grandchildren.

Jason decorated with pennant flags and came up with games we could play. We all had a good time in spite of the fact that Gavin was often better at the games than we were! He received mostly clothes and money - two very useful things. He also got a stuffed Bambi, some more cars, a learning computer game, and a Leap Pad version of the game Connect Four (with shapes, colors, letters, and words).

Gavin helped me make a cake from scratch, which I decorated as Lightning McQueen. After spending nearly all afternoon on it, I had a difficult time cutting it up! I did get some good pictures, so hopefully he'll look at it in years to come and appreciate my efforts.

My mom told me the first thing Gavin said when he woke up this morning was, "I had a fun party." That's all the approval we need!
