Relaxing Weekend

For the first time ever since we have been married, I went away by myself! It was kind of strange to be traveling in the van all alone, with just myself and the radio to make noise. Although at first it took some getting used to, now that I've done it, I wouldn't mind getting away again!

Thursday night I traveled to southeastern Illinois to visit my friend Stephanie, whose family works at Camp Assurance, a Christian camp. I've been there before for our annual college ladies' get-together, but never for one of their retreats. This past weekend was a scrapbooking retreat, which is right up my alley. There were 25 ladies in attendance and we enjoyed time to work on our books or cards, fellowship, eat great meals and snacks, learn during two helpful devotional times, and gain some tips and ideas. I actually only worked on one double-page layout in a scrapbook, but I did a lot of stamping and card making. Steph sells Stampin' Up supplies, so she let me put her stamps to good use! I also got to visit with Mary Ann (who as usual succeeded in cracking me up on more than one occasion) and also see another girl who went to Northland.

It was nice to get away from the house for a while and to enjoy time with other ladies. It was also nice to be able to get lots of work time - no phone to answer or meals to prepare and clean up!

Jason and the boys survived the 2+ days together. Everyone was clothed (although Peyton still had on the same shirt as when I left!) and appeared to have been fed. The dishwasher was running, the bed was made, and the toys were put away. Good job, Honey!
