Welcome to our little Rice patty! My plans are to keep family and friends updated on our lives, to record momentous - and even some not so momentous - events in the lives of the boys, and to help me remember the little things of life when our patty is empty! Enjoy!

Monday Morning Adventure
Yesterday morning Jason was playing with Peyton on our bed, as he often does in the morning. All of a sudden he sat up holding his right eye. I assumed he just got a good jab, but it didn't seem to be improving from the way he was acting. He went into the office and I continued playing with the boys. A little later he asked me to look at his eye. When I looked at it, I could see a scratch on his eyeball - eek! Peyton's fingernail had scratched his eye. I went on the Internet to see what first aid is required and saw that a dr. should be consulted. I called our dr.'s office and the nurse told us to go to an optometrist. I called the optometrist, whose secretary told me to go the E.R. We took a little less extreme route and went to an Acute Care Center. I dropped Jason off and went to the post office and the grocery store with the boys. The diagnosis was a corneal abrasion. They put in some drops to relieve the pain, then prescribed antibiotic drops to use throughout the day. On the way home he bought an eye patch, which Gavin thought looked like a good toy. I suppose it will become one after this! Today he is doing better and doesn't seem to have the pain that he did yesterday. We are thankful the scratch wasn't deep and that it should be all healed in another day or two!
