Well, it's a good thing I put in some time in the basement last week, because now our feet are being put to the fire, well potentially anyway. The church search committee now has a promising lead on a guy who went to Northland.
Because we will be gone on New Year's Eve, they are thinking of asking him to preach that Sunday, if all goes well in the coming weeks. If they are interested in him, and he is interested in the church, two more visits and a Sunday vote could see him at our church in February. Now of course this may be jumping ahead to some of you, but for us this means necessary action on our part. So I spent the majority of the day yesterday working in the basement once again. Things are looking better, though there is still a lot to do (and a certain pack rat's help is needed!). I got some more boxes packed and got some items that were floating around where they belonged.
Yesterday evening we got the tree up and the house decorated. It was kind of sad because I knew it would be the last time we would ever decorate in this house. It was also a little hard because I pulled out some of the Christmas presents Jason's parents gave to us a week before Dad died. The boys enjoyed putting the candy canes on the tree, though most of them seem to be at the same level! We also had a few "accidents" so we don't have quite as many as we did last year. Peyton would put one on (rarely actually on a branch) and clap for himself - too cute!
One of our next tasks is to start collecting boxes. This shouldn't be too hard with all the boxes stores must be emptying right now to fill their shelves. Then back to the basement!
