Anticipation

I've always been the type that enjoys the anticipation of an event. I enjoy countdowns. Now that we are living away from family, friends, and all things familiar for four years, I need countdowns. I'm thankful that we've had several things to look forward to. Right now we are counting down to a visit from a couple from our sending church. She was P's S.S. teacher when we first started at the church and was D's teacher when we moved. They are the parents of our missionary friends who are in PNG. They've had us to their farm several times for S.S. parties, dinner, apple picking, and hay rides. They joined us at the airport as we left for Slovakia.

I started a countdown around thirty days so the boys could have a concrete way of knowing when they were coming. Yesterday I was excited to tell D that he could now count down the sleeps on his hands. Only ten left. This morning I told him he could take one away. He thought he could take off two because he had two sleeps. He was counting his nap yesterday afternoon.

I said, "Naps don't count!"

He responded with, "That means I don't have to take naps!?!"

I should have told him that napping will make the days go by more quickly! We are really excited to have them here in only 9 days. They get to stay for five days, so they'll get a chance to see what our schedule is like and we're hoping to do something fun with them on the weekend.

Now we just need to find something else to count down to after they leave!
