Missionary Cupboard

Last night we got to visit our first missionary cupboard. It seems many churches do not have these any more, or maybe never did.

It was very well organized and well-stocked, I thought. She had a good variety of items from tools, to small kitchen appliances, to stationary, to toiletry items and paper products, to small toys and books. The boys each got 5 points to spend and Jason and I got 40 points to spend together. I think the point system is a great system because then you know exactly how much you should pick out. It's almost like shopping with a certain amount of money. The points on the items were very low, so it was easy to get a nice collection of items.

Gavin got a nice hand-held pinball game which will be nice for traveling. Peyton picked out a truck and a bat/ball set. Jason and I got a couple board books for Dawson, fine point Sharpie markers, pens, legal-size envelopes for prayer letters, two pkgs. of thank-you notes, a box of Kleenex, paper plates, and some dish cloths (I really needed some new ones b/c I had thrown out most of ours when we moved - they were pretty gross!).

It was a nice blessing and surprise for everyone - almost like Christmas!
