Earlier I wrote a post about baby-proofing our house for our 3rd child. Well, Dawson decided to ensure we finished this process by crawling up the step I mentioned. I was working in the kitchen while he was, I thought, playing in the next room. I turned around to find him crawling around the kitchen.
I put him back in the den and watched him crawl up the step on his own. He put his hands on the step, stuck his bottom up in the air which put him on his feet, moved his hands forward along the floor until he had pulled his upper body over the step, then he half-pulled half-crawled his legs up onto the step. I couldn't believe my 10 1/2 month old could do this!
This provoked Jason to find the baby gates and bring them upstairs. Thankfully we have two - one to keep him from crawling up the step (and potentially falling down it as well) and the other to keep him out of the office (which usually provides him endless entertainment as he finds everything he shouldn't) and the bathroom.
Unfortunately this stage of mobility seems to provoke more risks than benefits!
