The day before Thanksgiving the boys and I went to the dentist for a cleaning. The hygienist who cleaned Gavin's teeth told me had a slightly loose tooth. Last week I began to notice that one of his lower central baby teeth was slanting in a funny direction. Yep, it's more than a little loose, it's now officially wiggly.
This weekend I looked at it again and noticed the adult tooth has already surfaced behind, pushing the baby tooth from its location. I also noticed it's not straight. He has inherited his parents' teeth - both of us had horribly crooked teeth, especially on the bottom. Mine were so bad my orthodontist cemented in a permanent retainer to try to keep them straight.
So, I must now say good-bye to my eldest's perfect small-toothed smile and get prepared for what's to come. Braces. And the money to pay for them.
