Anticipation

I think it is extremely fun to anticipate things. To me it is half the excitement of the event, vacation, moment, etc. And now I get to anticipate something for over a year. Although that seems like an awfully long time, I am excited anyway!

For our 10th anniversary, which isn't until July, 2010, we plan to take a trip to Hawaii. That is one place I never imagined myself going until my 50th wedding anniversary, but it looks like it will happen before then. We're hoping to go in January or February of 2010.

Jason's cousin and her husband were stationed in Hawaii a few years ago and let the whole family know they were welcome to come any time. They are now stationed in WA, but will be going back to Hawaii for another term this coming spring. That will make our housing costs considerably cheaper than normal. This will also save on food since we can help with the cost of groceries rather than paying to eat out three meals a day.

The next large cost would be airfare. Due to our survey trips and getting credit cards which gave free frequent flyer miles when we signed up, we have enough miles to pay for the tickets. We'll only have to pay the taxes, which would be about the same as a normal ticket to say, Detroit. (Though I have no idea why someone would choose Detroit for their anniversay.) We have to use up our miles or they will expire, so this is a great way to put them to good use!

So all we really have to pay for is the tax on the tickets and any special things we want to do while we are there. The two things I have on my list so far are visiting the USS Arizona Memorial and a dolphin/whale excursion. I figure with a little over a year to anticipate our trip, we should be able to save up here and there to cover those things.

Thirteen/Fourteen months and counting!

How exciting -- can't wait to see pictures! I'd be counting down the months, too! :o)

That is so exciting! Do you guys save your lose change? It is amazing how that can add up, especially since you have quite a while to collect. We saved almost enough to cover our Sea World tickets before we went in the Spring.
