Obama raised a record $150 million dollars in September. Wow! Imagine what good could be accomplished with that money if we "spread the wealth around." Hmm. I don't see a check in my mailbox - do you?
One hundred fifty million dollars. If the sky is falling and we're in a recession (as we've been told), where in the world did this money come from? Did it come from the top echelon of society who Obama promises to tax more? If so, they seem to be a little confused. Or maybe it's the rest of America who is confused. Those who think their government owes them a hand-out rather than seeking a job to make our economy stronger. I remember the famous words of a previous Democratic president, "Ask not what your country can do for you. Rather ask what you can do for your country." Those words don't seem to be quite so popular any more.
The biggest shame of the one hundred fifty million dollars in my opinion is that it is being spent on tv ads, traveling expenses, signs, and other publicity. People feel so strongly about Obama and what he stands for that they are willing to sign over large checks to help his campaign move forward. Although I may not agree with them or their views on certain ethical matters, I do respect them. They have seen a need, dedicated themselves to a cause, and are giving to it wholeheartedly.
How many Christian organizations, missionaries, Christian schools, and even churches are trying to raise funds for new programs, existing programs, staff salaries, monthly support, etc. Are they half as successful as Obama? Why is that? Do we not see the need? Do we not support a good cause, a Biblical cause? Instead Christian organizations are folding, some pastors have to seek outside employment, churches are cutting missionaries, and Christian schools are closing their doors.
It is amazing to me that Christians, who have a God who owns the cattle on a thousand hills and promises to meet every need, struggle to raise even one percent of what Obama succeeded in raising in one month. Amazing, isn't it?

Amen and amen. I've always found it interesting how dedicated so many others are while we struggle with faithfulness in our own lives and churches. We have the truth, yet somehow fail to see it, share it, spread it.
