It was one week ago tonight that I discovered the little visitors on our head. That is definitely a night I would rather not repeat again for a variety of reasons. It was also a stormy night and we actually lost power for a short time. Some people in our area (including my great aunt and uncle) were without power for days. I guess the Lord decided I couldn't handle that much stress!
We decided to keep the boys home from church since we couldn't be with them the entire time to make sure they didn't get too close to other children or put something on their heads. I didn't find anything on them yesterday (Saturday), but we didn't want to take any chances. We also thought it might make the other parents feel better if we kept them at home a little longer. I went with the baby in the morning and Jason went tonight.
We have a nice arrangement of garbage bags in the garage. They are filled with couch pillows, rugs, and stuffed animals. They will be there for a while! I figured that was a safe location since anything that decides to crawl off those things we will be hard put to find something alive - unless another bug counts!
Tonight I tried to put my house back together a little bit. I'm feeling better about it now that it's not quite so cluttery and out of control looking. Decluttering definitely got put to the side as survival became the name of the game. I did some more vacuuming as well as more laundry. I got the dishwasher unloaded and loaded and decided to call it quits (it was 10:30 anyway).
Please pray that we will get through this week without a reinfestation! The next few days will let us know how well we did in ridding ourselves of them. The development portion of a louse's life cycle is two weeks - one week as an egg, then one week as a juvenile delinquent. It's after that they begin wreaking havoc as they start reproducing. SO, any eggs left behind will hatch this week and if not taken care of this week will become adults next week. Then we would be back at square one. Basically this means continued diligence and vigilance over the next week.
Thanks for your supportive comments and your prayers!
