Almost Over....Right?

Well, I think we are nearing the end of the battle - at least I hope so. Yesterday morning I found one live bug on both of the boys, plus some more eggs. Fun, fun. In the afternoon my mom came with her prescription and we treated her hair and both boys' hair (Jason had picked up our prescriptions the night before). Then we went through their hair for the fourth time, finding more eggs that were so difficult to see! I went through my mom's hair and she went through mine (I had already used the prescription the night before). We both found some more, but not as many as previously. This morning I checked the boys again and only found one egg on Gavin.

I think I'm nearing the end of the mountain of laundry. I don't even know for sure how many loads I've done, but I've filled fifteen garbage bags with the clean loads. I'm now washing/drying the pillows. We decided if they get ruined we'll just throw them out and start over again. I'm half tempted to do that anyway!

I finally got to the end of the ten rooms that needed vacuumed. I still haven't gotten to the play room in the basement, but since we're not going down there any time soon, I'm not overly worried about it. I do think I'll go down there and spray the rugs though. I'm hoping to take the van to the nearby gas station tonight to vacuum it out and spray the seats one more time.

Gavin realized not that long ago that we weren't going to AWANA. He was upset, but he understood why. I think we could go, but I want to make sure we are completely rid of them. I also know we might make other people nervous to be back at church so soon. Lice may be normal in some countries (as I've been told), but in the US they definitely carry a stigma.

I have to admit I'm still a little nervous about any eggs we may have missed or any little bugs lurking here and there. I just don't want to be reinfested in another week when they all hatch! I'm planning to keep the vacuum running, to check the boys' heads every day, to treat again next week, and to wash everything in hot water very frequently.

The boys look like Holocaust victims with their buzz cuts. Not like waving a lice flag or anything seeing as it's almost fall and their hair is a quarter of an inch long! I also cut my hair Monday night (by myself). My mom looked at it yesterday and only had to make a couple cuts here and there to even it out. It's probably the shortest it's ever been (and no, I don't look like a boy!), but desperate times call for desperate measures!

There is a light at the end of the tunnel! I love all of you blondies, but I'll bet that has made it even harder to see the little critters. It sounds like you're being very thorough. I'll pray that it will all be taken care of now & that you won't have any reoccurances ;-)

Oh, I hope you're done with this frustrating saga. When I student taught, the school I taught at got lice! Thankfully, I never got it. I wore my hair up every day, I think! The school actually closed for a few days to fumigate. Not fun!
