Peyton Is Three!

Yes, my middle son is 3! It is hard to believe in some ways, but yet he is growing and changing so much that it isn't as difficult to imagine.

On his birthday I made a strawberry jello cake to enjoy after a spaghetti dinner. His birthday party was on Saturday. Several of my aunts and uncles came, my grandpa, and a couple from church and their three year old daughter. It was a nice, sunny day so some guests got to enjoy their meal on the back porch.

The theme was Cars and I made a Lightning McQueen cake. I wasn't overly impressed with the results, but like my mom said, the only person who really mattered was Peyton and he was excited about it.

We did have a little (well, rather big) scare during the party. I heard Jason say, "Gavin, are you okay?" Then he rushes over to his chair, picks him up, and starts doing the Heimlich on him. He still couldn't breathe. He did it again and Gavin started to cough. He did it one more time, then the piece of hotdog finally came up. Talk about scary! This after hearing about a three year old that died from choking on a grape about a month or so ago. I have since decided I'll be slicing hotdogs lengthwise, then putting them in the bun.

Peyton got a Thomas and Friends movie, money, a shirt, a Franklin DVD, an art case w/ markers and coloring book, a Cars game book, and a Max Lucado book. He'll also be getting some Patch the Pirate cd's from my parents.

Today I took him to the dr. for his 3 year check-up. Thankfully no shots are involved at this visit! He weighed 33.2 pounds and was 38 1/2 inches tall. He was given a clean bill of health by the dr., though he is giving us a prescription to help treat some eczema that has popped up recently. We discussed the recent challenges to potty training (since the baby was born) and the importance of giving him some one-on-one time with Mommy and Daddy.

I am hoping to ask him some questions about favorite things, etc. and get that blogged too, but I haven't gotten that far yet!
