30 Weeks!

I can hardly believe we are at the 30 week point, though I am very grateful to have reached it! At the same time, I must admit I'm a little nervou too as this now means we most likely have ten weeks or less until we have three boys to care for! And I of course enjoy my sleep and I know I won't be getting much of that soon!

I had another check up yesterday since I am now on the two week schedule. I got to meet one of the other doctors in the practice. She was very nice and very thorough. Because I had an evening of cramping last Monday and another night of frequent Braxton Hicks followed by a day of spotting on Sunday, she ordered several tests. She did a fetal fibronectin test which is used to determine if the body may be going into labor. It's negative results are more reliable than it's positive results. She also did a culture to see if there are any infections present. She did an exam and told me I am closed, so that was a relief. She then sent me to the hospital for a cervical length ultrasound. It was a little nervewracking waiting to find out if I could go home or not, but thankfully they did send me home with a measurement of 3.39 cm. I am now just awaiting the other two swab results which should be in some time today. So far I've avoided bed rest, which I was already on at this point in my pregnancy with Peyton.

My blood pressure was good once again and my weight only went up another two pounds or so. I expected more of a weight gain based on our scale, so I was pleasantly surprised. I will most likely end up at a higher weight with this one than I did with Peyton (166), but hopefully I won't get as high as I did with Gavin (171). This time I measured on track which was more good news since last time I was measuring 2 cm ahead. The baby's heartbeat was at 141.

Please pray that my fetal fibronectin test comes back negative so I can continue to be up and about. Thanks!

Not to worry, I gained 40 -- yes, FORTY -- pounds with Caleb, and it didn't take too long to lose it all. You haven't seemed to have much trouble losing your post-baby weight, either, so I'm sure you won't have any problems this time around, either. :~) Either way, congratulations for making it this far; you're almost there!!!
