Snow Days!

We didn't just get a snow day, we got three snow days! It started raining/snowing on Sunday and by Monday it was just snowing. It didn't stop until Wednesday. This morning when I woke up it was snowing again!

Wednesday morning we all bundled up to go outside. Just getting ready to go out in the snow seems to take forever! My mom, Jason, and the boys shoveled while I took pictures and video. I helped cleaned the snow off the cars, but shoveling was a no-no for me. Poor Peyton had a difficult time as we couldn't manage to get his little thumbs into the right place in his mittens. Every time he dropped his little shovel he had a difficult time getting it picked up again. Gavin was quite the busy bee, working until the job was done. He seems to find pleasure in helping with big people tasks.

After the shoveling was done, Jason got the sleds out and we went into the backyard. My parent's yard slopes down to a tree line, so after a couple runs down the hill they had a nice sledding path. The only challenge was stopping at the bottom. Once you hit the tree line (hopefully not literally) the ground slopes quite steeply and goes down to a little creek. Once my mom came back we (well, they) developed a good system. My mom would push them off from the top and Jason would stop them at the bottom. Once again my role was picture and video taker as I sat on a broken, plastic chair thawing the ice and snow.

Eventually we had Gavin whizzing down the hill on a round saucer, turning the whole way down. Peyton began riding solo, lifting his little hands in the air, giggling. I was waiting for him to lose his balance and finish the trip without his companion sled, but somehow he managed to maintain his equilibrium.

Next, the boys made snow angels, wrestled Daddy, and tried to make snow balls out of too light snow. We decided we'd have to save making Frosty the Snowman for another day as the snow was not wet enough for this project.

Being just south of the snow belt, I'm sure we'll get many opportunties to enjoy the winter wonderland!
