We certainly feel as though we have enjoyed an extended Christmas celebration this year. First we celebrated with my parents last Saturday by going to see a Christmas display, visiting my grandpa in the hospital, going out to dinner, and opening presents. Gavin really enjoyed the big boy bike that we gave him. He rode it in circles in the garage and got pretty good at it.
Sunday afternoon we drove to eastern PA to spend time with Jason's grandparents. We enjoyed playing games with them in the evenings and sharing a meal together on Christmas Eve.
On Christmas Day we visited a lady in the nursinghome who we went to church with when we lived out here. She enjoyed seeing Gavin again (who was three months old when we moved) and meeting Peyton for the first time. We then drove to Jason's uncle's house for a get-together with his mom's side of the family. His aunt prepared a wonderful spread and we enjoyed catching up with family whom we had not seen for a couple years. That evening we went to another family get-together for his dad's side of the family. We had not been to one in three years, so it was nice to be together with them again even though it was only for a short time. After that we drove to his grandparent's old home (which they have been trying to sell for over a year) to make sure everything was still doing okay and to exchange a few more presents. It was an extremely late night, but we didn't mind! Thankfully the boys slept in the next morning so we were able to catch up a little bit!
Wednesday we spent a few more hours with his uncle and grandparents before driving to N.J. to be with his mom, sister, and his brother's family. We got to meet our niece Lydia for the first time! We finally have a girl in the family! We've enjoyed some good meals, fellowship, shopping, and game playing. Tomorrow Jason will be teaching in S.S. and giving the message in the morning at his brother's church.
We are striving to stay healthy as Jason's brother and our nephew were both sick the day we came. The next day Peyton came down with a cough and fever. We are hoping Gavin doesn't pick it up, but know he probably will since cold germs love to be shared! I've been taking vitamin C at night in the hopes that I can evade it entirely.
It has been a nice, relaxing time so far and we are looking forward to the week we still have left!
