Successful Yard Sale

After enduring several cancelled yard sale days because of rain, we were finally able to have a sale this past Saturday. Usually Friday is our better day, but we were afraid if we put it off again we might never have it!

We actually made as much in one day as we made in two days last year! That was such a blessing, especially with all the work we put into it. It did help that Jason sold two computers within the first hour or so. I had told him if he sold some of his computer stuff he could buy a new flat screen monitor which he has been wanting for quite some time. (Not like he needs my permission, but that was the solution I came up with to get the needed money and get rid of some things at the same time!).

We still have a lot left (at least it seems that way to me) and will probably find more in the coming weeks, so we hope to have another sale in October. Hopefully the weather will cooperate with us next time! We're also attempting to sell some things on Ebay since we think we can get more for them that way than in a yard sale.

Three cheers for downsizing and making some money at the same time!

Isn't it so neat to be there when a child finally "gets" something that has been alluding them? That was always my favorite part about working in a school -- I'm sure it's even more rewarding when it's your own child. :)

*oops, I meant to type "eluding" -- not alluding!

Congrats on your yard sale success! I've got a ton of stuff to put in a yard sale but it's all mostly clothes and shoes. I'm hoping to team up with another mom to do a combo sale. Isn't it amazing how much stuff we accumulate?
