Hurray!

I just have to share my exciting Ebay news with you!

I've decided I'm going to use the A Beka K4 curriculum for Gavin this coming school year. I got the idea to look on Ebay to see if anything was being sold there. I put quite a few things on my watch list and began making some bids. I won one curriculum book and the corresponding workbook (not used), but I paid the maximum I wanted to pay. This was still about half of its original cost, so I did get a good deal. Unfortunately I lost the other curriculum book I was bidding on by 50 cents (by the same seller which would have saved me postage on both). I was taking a nap because of a headache so I didn't get on again when the listing ended.

WELL, there was a set this week that included three curriculum books, a set of new readers, half of another set of readers, and two other supplemental books. Without the supplemental books included, the other materials are worth around $80. I began bidding on it along with others. The price slowly crawled higher, but still within the amount I wanted to pay. When it got within a day or so of ending I realized the listing was going to end in the middle of the night.

I knew whoever put in the last bid was probably going to win. That night before I went to bed I checked it one last time, set my alarm, and got up at 3:45. I put in two bids - one to see if the highest bidder had set a high maximum amount and a second to put in the highest possible amount I wanted to pay. I then went back to bed even though there were fourteen minutes left. In the morning I found that no one else had bid on it and I had won it for a dollar more than the price it was set at when I went to bed. I guess no one else wanted it so badly. With shipping added I won the set for $30.42!

Now I'm on the prowl for workbooks that are not used, though I know these will be hard to find. I also need the phonics charts and games set, so hopefully one of those will be listed soon. I'm anxious to discover some more Ebay deals!
