Bye-bye, Piggies!

Well, we had to relinquish our newly adopted piggies Saturday night. We already had the idea that they weren't getting along (since one controlled the house and the other the food), but it only got worse.

Saturday morning I was at church for our one-day winter VBS. When I got home they had scattered bedding and what's in it all over the place. We had put newspaper down around it, but they even got it beyond that! That meant vacuuming once again.

Every once in a while, for no apparent reason, I would hear them running or banging around. After Jason got home, we actually saw one attack the other, leaving a clump of fur in his mouth. That was the end of it. Jason got on the phone with the pet store and told them we were returning them. They wanted us to only bring back one, but we intentionally adopted two so they would have each other for company. Three different workers had told us they came in together. As we looked at them more closely, we saw little bite marks on both of their ears. Possibly they did come in together, but they definitely do not get along.

So the pet store did take them back, but we didn't get our "donation" back. The district manager is supposed to contact us about it, but we have yet to hear from him five days later. Jason said if we adopt another pair from there our next donation will be $2.

The worst part about it (well, besides them hurting each other) was that the manager Jason talked to said the manager that was there the night we adopted them is new and doesn't know that much about animals. Was that supposed to make us feel better? Shouldn't that be a prerequisite for being a pet store manager? Maybe that makes too much sense.

So now we're on the hunt for another pair of little piggies up for adoption.
