Chaos Crazy!

I get in this "mood" every once in a while. I'm not completely sure what provokes it, but when it comes on, watch out! If I had a dumpster in my possession, I would probably be filling it right now. With what? Everything! For only being married five plus years, my husband and I have accumulated WAY too much stuff.

What has caused our chaos?

1.We are both pack rats and have a hard time getting rid of things. The worst part is, if one of us is ready to throw something away or sell it in a yard sale, the other one thinks of a reason to keep it!

2. Our parents. All of our parents are (or were) pack rats. My dad is probably inflicted with this malady the least - he just forgets he has things and buys them again. We have discovered two or three of the same board games in Jason's parents' basement in the past. And my mom is probably most to blame because when they moved two years ago she pawned everything off on me (b/c she couldn't get rid of it and knew I would keep everything - she was right).

3. Children. With two kids, it is extremely hard to find a block of time to go through things. As I was going through my memoribilia and teaching supplies last week, it became a complete fiasco every time Peyton entered the living room. That definitely hampered progress.

4. Yard sales. My husband loves yard sales and they love him back. He buys nice things and gets good deals, but I've now asked him not to buy me ANYTHING unless he calls me first. Otherwise I end up with a new decoration I have no wall space for or a kitchen appliance that only adds to my workload (like the food dehydrator of a couple weeks ago!).

5. Children. Yes, they get blamed twice. Baby paraphenalia takes up a LOT of room, plus all the clothes you have to save if you plan to have another, which is under question in my mind right now! They are also guilty as charged because of their cuteness and joy at receiving a new toy. This has been the downfall of many a parent, most namely, my husband. At yard sales, mentioned in #4, he finds all kinds of toys, gadgets, doo-dads, etc. that the kids just HAVE to have. They love him for it, and who wouldn't?

6. Schedule. Our year has been, well, insane probably wouldn't even describe it accurately enough! And now that Jason is the pastor of our church, and trying to prepare for VBS and teen activities on top of it, our life has become even more hectic. Our summer calendar is filled nearly every weekend the entire summer, especially with candidate school for two weeks in July.

So now I've gotten this all of my chest and I can now move on with life, well, I could if I could find the floor! Not only are we moving in only a few more months, but also I'm going insane looking at the clutter. Last night I thought about taking a picture of our house for remembrance in the future, in the hopes that it won't be like this when the children get older and can help out more !?! Who am I kidding?
