Garden Growth!
I have good news to report! The two tomato plants that the frost hit are actually growing back! I'm not sure when they will be large enough to bear tomatoes, but at least they weren't a complete loss.
My herbs are doing great! I've actually had to trim back the oregano twice. Oregano and thyme grow back each year, which is nice. I just have to keep them from flowering or they are bust for the rest of the season. The parsley seeds must not have been good from a couple years ago, because nothing is growing. I don't know if I will try new seeds or not.
My peas and beans are doing great. We put fences up for the peas to grow along. I am really hoping we finally get a good crop on our third try. The beans are doing so well, I think I might have to dig some out and spread them out. An animal did dig up some of the seeds, so there are a couple spots with no plants. Maybe I can transplant to that area.
The lettuce and spinach and doing pretty well, though they seem to be concentrated in one area and not spread all over like I wanted. I may have to try to transplant them too or they won't have room to grow. I can't wait to have my first home-grown salad!
The broccoli and cauliflower are coming along nicely too. I am thankful the slugs haven't attacked them too much. I did spread some more "poison" in the places where there are no plants to try to keep them under control.
All the rain we received made me thankful I got the garden in early. Otherwise I wouldn't have been able to get it in until this week, which would have been too late for most of the things. Last week was okay for planting, but I was too busy with preparing to speak and keeping up with the kids and house.
I will try to take a picture in the coming weeks and post it for you!
