First Crush

We think Gavin may be experiencing his first crush. Each week he is a part of the AWANA Cubbies program at our church. There are only four children in the group and three of them are girls. The odds are certainly in Gavin's favor.

Last night Jason was asking Gavin about the girls, after we were reviewing his verse. He asked him what their names were. At first Gavin couldn't come up with them, but then he "remembered" them.

He then said Bethany, "has some kind of hair." We're not entirely sure what that was supposed to mean, but that was our first clue.

Of course Jason had to ask which one was his favorite.

"Bethany."

"Why?" Jason asked.

"I don't know."

"Is it because you like her hair?"

"No, that's not it."

"Is it because she's nice to you?"

We finally concluded that may be it, especially when he told us another one of the girls isn't nice to him. He said it's because she took his race car, but I see how he treats his brother, so I'm not necessarily taking his side. Jason and I got a good giggle out of the exchange.

At the same time, I wondered if this was just the beginning. I didn't know if I was quite ready for that. I was hoping I'd be the only one he has a crush on for a few more years.
