Our Gain, Their Loss

I certainly feel as if I am throwing to the wind the instructions in Ecclesiastes to weep with those who weep and rejoice with those who rejoice. This might not apply exactly, but I still feel a little guilty.

We have two Cub Food stores that are going out of business near here. I've only shopped there a few times, not finding enough sales to pull me in when I go shopping. With an Aldi less than five minutes from our home, they get most of our food dollars. Well, between us, Jason and I have been at Cubs four or five times in the last week finding deals of all kinds. We've spent a lot, but in the long run we've saved a lot too. Our refrigerator and freezers are filled with our finds.

Such as:

- 2 gallons of milk for 80 cents
- make-up at 60% off
- cards at 80% and 90% off (so if you get a card from me in the next year I probably got a great deal on it!)
- soy milk for 2 cents a quart (this was partially a register mistake, but the manager said to give it to Jason for that price) With the lowest sale price being a dollar, we saved a minimum of $23.50 on it, but even more if we figured it by the regular price!
- spices at a discount which worked great for me since I wanted to make a home made recipe of chili for our get-together last night
- bags of mini chocolate bars for 70 cents a bag
- ice cream for 50 cents each
- dips and cheese at great discounts
- medicine and cold items at 60% off

Can you tell we are excited? We found more than this, but I won't bore you (if I haven't already). Needless to say, it's a good thing we aren't moving soon or we'd be in trouble with all this stuff. I told Jason if the world stopped functioning we could survive on chocolate and ice cream for weeks! :) I have a feeling Jason will stop in there one last time on his way home from church today to see if any good deals are left.

Just thought I'd share our blessing with you!

Something similiar happened a couple of years ago when Kohl's Food Stores closed around here. We kept going back again and again for good deals! It was fun!
