You can tie up your laces and change into a cardigan sweater, but that will not make our neighborhood safe for Mr. Rogers! We have had no real complaints until February. Since then we have had our mail box vandalized and our home broken into.
Since we have been home (for only a week) the following things have happened. First, there was a message from our police dept. on our answering machine saying a 4 yr. old boy was missing in our neighborhood. That gave me the chills and reconfirmed the reason I don't let Gavin play outside by himself. I still don't know what the outcome of that was. Then last week we heard gun shots being fired (five shots total) two different times. It definitely sounded like shotgun shots. We called the police after the first set, but when they arrived at our house to get our information no one had found anything suspicious. No one else had called it in either. The most comforting thing of all was that one of the officers told us there were squads going around the area checking out the known gang members houses to make sure everything was okay. What!?! When I was trying to find some info. on it on the Internet a day or two later, I found out a bank that is about five minutes from our house was robbed last week. Thankfully they caught the guy the same day.
Maybe the Lord is getting us ready to move! This certainly isn't the town of "Make Believe"!
