Although Peyton has only taken a few independent steps, we know he is ready to take off. He just needs to acquire the self-confidence to let go and throw caution to the wind! One proof that he is more than ready to walk is that he has discovered the toy shopping cart that we have. He wraps his little fingers around the handle and off he goes, pushing the cart along the hallway or into the kitchen. Because of all the toys strewn here and there (and some things we haven't put away since our trip) he often gets caught up on something. When the cart gets stuck he either a.) screams, b.) fusses, or c.) decides to turn it around or face it in another direction. Sometimes he chooses all three options at once.
I caught this phenomena on tape this morning - speed along, stop, cry, push, cry, turn around, speed along, stop, scream, etc. Hopefully he will soon learn the crying doesn't really help in the matter. Either way, it is cute to watch him toddle along, not really needing the cart at all, but feeling the cart gives him independence to go where he wants and the safety of something to hold onto all at the same time.

Oooh, sounds as if you have some good footage to use for blackmailing in the future... perfect for embarrassing him with his future gf/fiancee/wife LOL! ;) That's what my dad did when Nathan and I started courting... I hated when he pulled out the home videos!!!! Oh, well; it's a little funny, I guess. :o)
I understand that whole needing the cart thing. I think that as adults we call them 'crutches', right? :-)
