God's Provision

One of the neatest things about living paycheck to paycheck and offering to offering is seeing God provide. We've only been at this point a few, short periods of time in our married lives before so this extended time of trusting in the Lord for our needs has been a faith building venture.

Last Monday morning Jason's grandpop died. This required 17 hours of travel, the purchase of flowers, and three days off work without pay. I knew it was going to put us in a crunch financially, but I didn't have any qualms about it. We knew it was what we needed to do. Period.

I thought, "It will be interesting to see how the Lord provides for us in this situation."

So, here's how He did it:

1. Two more people contributed to the flowers, lowering the cost for all involved.

2. Jason's aunt gave us $25 - Christmas money she had not yet spent.

3. My mom gave us $50 to help with gas costs the day before we left.

4. A man in his uncle and grandparents' church went grocery shopping with Jason's cousin and myself to give us a hand. When we got to the check-out line, he paid for everything.

5. Yesterday we found out a church (where we've never been a member) wrote a check for $200 from the deacon's fund to help with the costs of our trip and lost income.

6. When Jason checked our mission account yesterday, a church we visited in January sent an additional $150 gift beyond the initial (and generous) offering they had given us.

All of those things together paid for our trip and covered the wages we lost. Isn't God's provision amazing?

Thanks for sharing! What a blessing! We've been loving watching God provide this winter for camp and us. It seems he brings in just enough just in time to cover paychecks each time. It has been especially exciting to pray with the boys and then share with them how God has provided.

Glad you guys had a safe trip too.

It IS amazing -- I love to read/hear glory stories, so thanks for sharing. I'm sure you'll appreciate being able to look back on this one day, as well :o)
