It seems like it has been forever since I've done an update on our littlest man. I've been trying to update his first year calendar which I hadn't touched in two months. So many say that the middle child has the least pictures, video, memoirs, etc., but it seems my baby may fall into that category. Tomorrow he will be nine months old. I can't believe it. It seems the first year goes by faster and faster with each subsequent child - so sad.
He is now sitting up well, though if he loses his concentration he does take a tumble. Usually it is his desire to see what is going on somewhere in the room that causes him to fall over. He doesn't do the conventional crawl yet, but he does manage to get around somewhat. He either rolls, pivots himself around in a circle, or scoots backward. I think he will the the earliest crawler in the family as my other two didn't crawl until they were eleven months. He started clapping a couple weeks ago and thinks that is great fun.
He is now eating most vegetables and fruits, though there are a few we haven't tried yet. We just started giving him some finger foods last week - Rice Krispies, Rice Chex, and Cheerios. We have to be really careful what we give him due to having a history of food allergies in the family. We also tried giving him some peas, though he didn't seem to impressed.
He has four teeth, though the top middle two are still making their way down into his mouth. He still grits them together from time to time! He uses them to help him crunch cereal. He is by far my slowest teether as Gavin had all this teeth and his one year molars before he was one. Unless Dawson does some major teething very soon, I don't think he will have that many (which is fine with this nursing mom!).
He is still quite the little baldy. He does have some hair, particularly on the top. From afar he doesn't appear to have too much. The sides are wispy and long so just like his brothers he'll be getting a haircut in a few months just so he doens't look like Bozo the clown!
He continues to be a happy, smiley baby, though he is developing a little more of a, "This is what I want and I'm going to let you know about it" attitude. This usually happens when we set him down, he gets tired of playing by himself, and sometimes for naps. We are working on his patience level as when it's time to nurse he can sometimes get a little demanding if I don't move quickly enough.
He should be going to the dr. in the next week or two for his nine month check-up. Then we'll get to see how long he is and how much he weighs. I don't think he'll top the charts on weight, but he does seem to be a long baby to me.
Happy 9 month birthday (a day early!)

I can't believe he's that big. They don't stay babies very long!
