....God's protection.
Last week we had to get some needed repairs done on our van.
Jason went to pick it up between work and AWANA last Wednesday night. He decided to stop at the library on the way home to drop off our recyclables (yes, you have to put them in containers yourself around here) and to look around the library. When he came out he noticed some fluid around the van, but started off for home anyway. He quickly realized there was a problem and stopped at a local business. It was brake fluid. Meaning soon there would have been no brakes.
The baby was sick so Jason was going to be staying home with him and I was planning to take the boys to AWANA. If he had just come home, I would have gotten in it and probably not determined something was wrong until either I stopped at the end of our driveway to get on the state highway (which could have put me in front of a vehicle going 55-65 mph) or when I was trying to slow down from 60 mph as I reached the edge of town (and a stop light). OR if the fluid had leaked out sooner, Jason could have been killed on his way home. From the location of the mechanic into our small town there is a very steep hill and the road also curves. At the bottom of this hill is a narrow two lane bridge which spans a wide creek. It probably doesn't take a whole lot of imagining to think of what could have happened there.
Basically had things happened any differently or any sooner or later than they did, he, myself, and/or the boys could have been in a serious accident and potentially injured or killed someone else as well.
The mechanic determined he cracked the brake fluid line which is why it leaked out. He fixed it the next day at no charge, washed our van, pounded out a dent in the bumper, and gave us a credit for a free oil change.
I am very thankful for God's hand of protection on our family that night. Being late to AWANA and Bible study was a small price to pay for our safety!

God is so good! And Jason was so wise to obey God's promptings to stop and get things checked out!
Wow, I always love hearing/reading stories like this. God is definitely still in the miracle-making business! :o)
