Missions Moments

For this entry I would like to focus on some do's and dont's I've observed in the churches in which we've presented (or from stories from our New Tribes friends). I won't mention whether churches have or have not done these things, but just list them as things to think about when a missionary visits your church.

.) Show them where the nursery, S.S. classes, etc. are held. They are visitors too!

.) Provide a meal before and/or after their scheduled presentation.

.) Offer to help unload or load their display, equipment, etc.

.) Allow them to go to bed at a reasonable hour the night before they present.

.) Refrain from mentioning how great another missionary's presentation was just before they are sheduled to present.

.) Allow the children to be children, don't expect a "song and dance" from all MK's.

.) Be prompt with the offering. Expenses can be put on a credit card, but we do get a bill eventually!

.) Give an offering - yes, this has happened (or rather not happened) to both of our families already (I went agaist my "I won't tell" policy. Oops!).

.) Be friendly. Contrary to popular opinion, we really don't bite! Missionaries will not take down your personal information and social security number just because you look at their table! :)

.) Put yourself in their shoes. They are a family just like yours with interests, concerns, prayer requests, joys, burdens, busy schedules, friends, and a desire to serve the Lord.
