Missions Moments

Since missions is rather at the forefront of our minds right now, I thought I'd start something new. I was going to come up with a witty acrostic that went with one of the days of the week, but decided since I might not be that faithful, I better not obligate myself to writing on the same day every week. I'm hoping that what I write might prompt you (and me too!) as we think about the missionaries we know and/or that our churches support.

About a month ago we received this note in the mail.

" D---- and I spent some time specifically praying for churches and individuals to be raised up to support you. We are so glad to have you in our church family! Let us know if you need any help with projects in your new home!"

You have no idea what a note like this means, especially out of the blue, but I'm sure you can imagine. Have you ever had someone write you a note at just the right time? It was a special blessing and it touched my heart to know that this couple took time out of their schedule to pray for us and to let us know about it.

The Lord answered their prayers. Soon after we received an e-mail from a pastor we DO NOT KNOW, asking us to contact him. Jason did and we now have a meeting at that church on the 22nd. We still are not sure how he got our contact information and/or why he chose to contact us out of all the missionaries that are currently raising support.

How about taking a few moments to pray for a missionary and then send them a card (snail mail or e-card) or an e-mail? It will be a great encouragement to them.
