House Update

Jason has been making deliveries at the house on his way to or from work. We've started to make a dent in the stacks of boxes in the garage. I've sorted through the kitchen items to find which ones are mine, but haven't done any other packing.

We still don't have a firm move-in date which is a little frustrating. The owner wants a few things done before we move in, but every time we go over nothing new has been done. My dad has been there today installing the oven and repairing a door from the kitchen into the basement so that it shuts properly. My mom pulled nails and staples out of the baby's room walls and spackled all the holes. We now need to find out if we can take down the ivy border (which is already coming off on its own) and paint the room a neutral color (it's currently light green).

We want to install a couple more smoke detectors since there are only two in the entire house. We're also hoping to put in some door alarms since there are quite a few doors spread out all over the house. We not only want to know if the boys go out, but also if someone else tries to come in! I guess we might be a little paranoid (well, I am), but after our experience in IL, who can blame us?

We found a table and chairs for $40. The chairs don't exactly match the table, but they're all in good condition, so we bought them anyway. We've been scouring craigslist.com, yard sales, and second hand stores, but haven't found much. Jason did find a dryer through the newspaper, so at least I can dry my clothes. I just can't wash them! :) The main thing we still need is a couch. Yesterday our church sent us a check for $500 to go towards household expenses. What an unexpected blessing that was!

Hopefully we will be moved in in the next few weeks. Then we can begin setting up a house again!

Yay! Looks like you're making progress (even if it's slow). Ever wonder why we're in such a hurry when obviously God doesn't get in a rush? I'll be praying that things come together for your house set-up. Could you please pray the same for me? ;-) Can't wait to see you in a few weeks!
