After four years of praying for the Lord's will in whether or not Gavin would outgrow his allergies, we got part of our answer this morning.
GAVIN MAY NOW EAT BEEF!
I am still in a little bit of shock and disbelief and I know it will take a while for it to sink in. I have to re-think all the rules, etc. that we've been following for the past four years and make adjustments to his diet. I'm not complaining though! Although he passed the physical challenge, Mommy has to pass the psychological challenge. After making sure he didn't ingest any red meat for the past four years, it will take a little while for me to adjust!
This will obviously add more things to his diet, as well as cut down on the risk of contamination. For example, tonight he ate a pork chop that was cooked directly on the grill, which is something he hasn't been able to do. Since a steak or hamburger may have been on the grill before, we always had to cook his chicken and pork on tin foil and use a separate utensil. This will also save us money on buying soy burgers and special hotdogs. And, drum roll please, he can now eat McDonald's french fries which were previously a no-no because they contain a beef product. Not that we frequent fast food joints, but hey, it's an option! Traveling to raise support will be easier because there are now less foods on the avoidance list.
His next appointment will most likely be for a milk challenge. She told me we could schedule one in June or July. Although his last two blood tests have come back negative for milk, he failed a challenge in May of 2007. It will be interesting to see what happens this next time.
Thank you to those who have been praying alongside us for the past four years!

Praise the Lord for answered prayer! I'm so excited for Gavin (and you!!)
That is so exciting, and what a huge relief, I'm sure! God is so good, isn't He?!
You can't see it, but inside I'm dancing with happiness for you all! What a wonderful answer to prayer! Now we've got to focus on that upcoming milk challenge. I'll be praying!
