Yesterday afternoon I fell on some steps. I'm blaming it on pregnancy induced clumsiness. The boys and I had been invited to a young mom's home (from church) and she had invited some other moms and their young children as well. Her bathroom was upstairs so I had gone up to help one of the boys (can't even remember which one now). The stairs are carpeted, but somehow I slipped on one of them. I then stepped on the next step down and did the same thing. By that point my balance was completely off so I landed on my bottom and I think I slid down another step. It happened so fast it really took me by surprise.
Picking up myself and my pride, I went back to the table to finish my lunch. I stayed until the time I had originally planned to leave, but I was getting more and more sore. Jason had to leave for a work meeting as soon as I got home so I didn't even mention it to him. I put the boys down for a nap and then called the dr. They told me to go to L&D for observation. Jason had our van (our only vehicle), the roads were terrible because of snow, and I was so uncomfortable that I asked my mom to drive me in. My dad was fearful that Peyton would wake up with poopy pants, but he did let us leave!
They hooked me up to the monitor and she made a heating pad to put on my back. It seemed to help a lot because I was able to walk more easily afterwards. The baby looked fine, so they let me go home after an hour or so.
I had to go back in today for a repeat non-stress test. I did it right after the sibling class I had signed the boys up for, so Jason was in a waiting room with them while I was getting it done. The baby wasn't cooperating and they couldn't let me go home until the results were the same as yesterday. The nurse brought me juice, pudding, and crackers to get the baby to move and have heart accelerations. A little later another nurse came in and told me to lie on my side to see if that helped. That must have been the trick because once I went on my side he started moving around more and they got the results they wanted. I was a little nervous wondering what they would do if he didn't cooperate, so I was thankful when they told me he passed and I could go home!
I told the nurse today that of course I didn't fall on ice or snow (and we've had plenty of both), but rather on someone's carpeted steps!

Obviously, you have a very considerate child! He wanted you to have a soft landing! Plus - he knew snow or ice would be cold!!
Seriously though, I'm glad you're ok.
