Thursday Jason announced it would be a good night to go camping since it was only supposed to get down into the 60's at night. He's a smart man - he knows I don't like sleeping in the cold! After shopping, packing and loading, we headed off the state park a little before six.
We got a nice camping area with no one across or on either side of us. This afforded us some extra privacy and quiet. It probably afforded the other campers extra quiet too as Peyton seems to always talk in loud volume. He doesn't yell, but when you are out in the woods, everything seems loud.
We took a little jaunt around the camping areas, set up our tent and camping supplies, and got the fire blazing. A few hot dogs and hamburgers later and we were ready for marshmallows. This time Gavin wanted to cook them by himself. The only problem was that he wouldn't hold it close enough and he would end up eating it just as "raw" as when he stuck it on the stick! I finally helped him out by checking it for him so that it was at least a little soft! Jason helped keep Peyton supplied. We put the boys to bed, then enjoyed the fire and some talking time for a little while longer before heading to bed ourselves.
In the middle of the night Gavin woke up with one of his worst coughing fits yet. It seemed to last forever, especially because I was afraid he was going to wake up the entire campground. I think it did last at least 20 min. Jason was considering taking him into the van and I was getting ready to drive him back home for the rest of the night. He was finally able to calm back down and didn't have any more problems the rest of the night.
We woke up to a morning filled with various bird sounds and enjoyed a hearty breakfast of bacon, eggs, and pancakes thanks to the camp stove Jason won on Ebay. It really was yummy.
We packed up and headed home sporting mosquito bites, but having enjoyed a pleasant and relaxing time together. My parents are hoping to come visit in a couple weeks and I told my dad to bring along his tent. Hopefully we'll all get to enjoy some camping time together!
