I feel burdened for our church right now. We just found out today that the potential candidate we had scheduled to come on the 24th has canceled. He is candidating at another church where he has already spoken.
Although I was a bit nervous about the thought of a new pastor and his wife coming in the next month or two, I was also excited for the church people. This man seemed like an excellent match for the church and he told the committee he was ready to take on the task of shepherding a small, and at times struggling, church. I think everyone involved in the search process honestly thought this man would more than likely be the next pastor unless he turned down the position. Well, he has before he even visited. I don't know how the others have taken (or will take) the news, but Jason and I were surprised and even a little shocked.
We know the Lord is in control and that He has the perfect pastor/wife for this church. We just hope and pray the church people continue to be patient and persistent while they wait for him. It will not be easy to break the news to the people on Sunday.
