....says it all. In 27 days we'll be heading to Slovakia. First we'll fly to Budapest, Hungary, arriving on May 3rd. We'll spend one night in Hungary, trying to enjoy a little sightseeing in the midst of our jet lag. We better take a lot of pictures because I'm sure I'll be in a fog.
On the 4th, the team leader for Slovakia will drive us north to Bratislava, Slovakia, where he and his family normally live. Right now they are back in the States on furlough, but he is going back for a short time for some regional leaders' training in Budapest (which is why we will be meeting him there!). We'll spend several days in Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia, getting to know him better and getting a feel for the area. Then we'll drive to central Slovakia to Lucenec, where another missionary family and single lady live and minister. We'll spend several days with them before heading back to Budapest to catch our early morning flight on May 10th.
We've been communicating with various members of the Slovakia team since this past November, but the beginning thoughts of this survey trip came about just two weeks ago. Jason bought our tickets today before they could get any higher!
I am both excited and nervous about it. I am excited about taking another survey trip and getting to see two more European countries. I am also looking forward to the time away with Jason. I'm ready for us to make a field choice and we are really hoping this is IT! But, I am nervous that this will not be the field for us either or that we will disappoint more people, as I feel we've already done. I'm also feeling guilty for being gone over Peyton's second birthday, even though we didn't get to choose the dates of our trip. We have to go when the team leader is going to be there, otherwise we would have to wait until September. I know that will be a hard day for me to be away from the boys even though they will be in good hands with my parents.
So, please pray for us as we prepare once again to hop the pond. We have many things going on between now and then so I know the time will pass quickly, probably too quickly!

Love your ticket & I'm so excited about your trip! I know I shouldn't probably say this, but I would almost rather get to do what you guys are doing than go to Hawaii. Somehow with you guys taking survey trips I feel guilty traveling simply for pleasure. Please do take many pictures. I can't wait to see them. I'll be praying for you!
I meant to say that I love your 'ticker', not ticket! Oops! :-)
Mare -
Hey, one of these days you'll be taking a "survey" trip too - to see me! (hint, hint) If we end up in Bratislava we will only be about 45 min. or so from your friend that just got married! She's in Vienna, right?
Don't feel guilty about taking a pleasure trip. I would do the same thing if I had the chance. I'm glad you live life to the fullest and enjoy it. There's nothing wrong with that!
In some ways I feel guilty about having the opportunity to take mission trips/survey trips to so many different countries. Some people never get to see what life is like on other continents and this will be my fifth opportunity.
