Happy First Birthday!
Today is my baby's 1st birthday. I cannot believe a year has gone by since his birth. It has truly flown by. I am sad to see it gone, because I truly do enjoy having a baby in the family. Once I learned what the toddler stage has in store (Rebecca knows!), I really learned to appreciate the baby stage even more than I already did. I would love to have him stay little forever.
We enjoyed a fun party Saturday night with Gips & Nana (my parents), Rebecca and her family, Rachel and her little guy, Zachary, Wendy and her baby, Gloria, and Barker & Big Barker (a couple who is about my parent's age from my church - their last name is Barker). Peyton seemed a little overwhelmed by all the people, noise, and commotion, but I think he enjoyed it overall. Once he got into the cake he really liked that! He snapped himself on the cheek with his birthday hat. It actually left a line down the side of his face. When I tried to put it on again later he burst into tears all over again. Now he'll be traumatized at every birthday party he goes to! He got clothes, toys, books, money, a ball, and a sippy cup - your normal birthday boy necesseties.
He began pulling himself up this past Thursday night and has become more skilled with practice. He also enjoys walking while holding onto our fingers. He is waving more often now when we say bye-bye and he also seems to be jabbering a little more than he did before.
Happy birthday, baby boy! May your second year be as joy-filled as your first!
