Trip to the "Densis"
Today was Gavin's 1st trip to the "densis". No matter how many times I tried to tell him the right way to say it, he could not get it. It was somewhat traumatic. I guess that huge green chair and all the apparatus, tubes, lights, etc. do make it look more like a torture chamber than something fun! He started to cry, but soon relaxed and did okay. The dentist was great with him - he even drew a little smiley face on one of the fingers of his glove. He got several stickers and two new toothbrushes, so I guess that made it worth the trip. They didn't get to do too much cleaning though, b/c the light scared him and he kept eating the cleaning paste. I guess the fact he didn't eat breakfast had something to do with that. And no, I'm not kidding.
No cavities, which is obviously good. The bad news is that he has a cross bite - something the dentist said they hardly ever see. Great! I guess braces and orthodontic paraphernalia are looming in our future! We better start saving our pennies now!
I took a couple pictures of the lady doing the cleaning, but when I asked the dentist if he could have a picture with him, he said no. At first I thought he was joking, but later he came back into the room and said they have privacy laws. Whatever that means! He had a mask, a hat, and goggles on, so it's not like I would have identified him in real life anyway! His scrapbook page will not include a picture of his first dentist. Oh well. I guess I'll get over it someday.
