VBS Recovery

Last night was the closing program for VBS, so we are now officially done. Several people stayed afterwards to help take down decorations, so that saved Jason and I a lot of time. There is still quite a bit to be done, particularly in putting supplies, games, etc. back where they all came from. There are also receipts to be turned in, some items to return to stores, and decorations to put in storage for anther church to use in July.

Friday was our lowest day, with only 23, but the other days we averaged 32 kids. We had several make salvation decisions and others learned more about what becoming a Christian is all about. We were able to send Bibles home with some of the children, as well as tracts about growing in their Christian walk.

We had a fairly good group turn out last night, though we were hoping for more families. We had plenty of food and way too many brownies. Four pans never even got cut! I'd rather have too much than not enough. That is so embarrassing and one of my pet peeves! The kids got to share what they had learned, Jason did a magic trick devotional, we had a fellowship time with hot dogs, chips, brownies/cookes, and tortilla chips with ALL the fixings - sour cream, cheese, refried beans, home-made salsa, and a guacamole dip , and then we had two pinatas and a time for the kids to play the carnival games with their families. It was an enjoyable time and hopefully we established some contacts with the parents.

My house is thankful VBS is over, since now the floors can breathe again! Okay, maybe it wasn't QUITE that bad, but it was pretty bad. It looks a lot better now, though there is still quite a bit to do. Getting back on track is going to take a while and we now only have a week and a half before we leave for candidate school! AAAAGGGGHHH!

Blessings to those whose churches still have VBS coming this summer!
